Exeter Project
This home was going to be put on the market for sale and had some big challenges. The owner asked me how he could maximize his sales value. It was a large home on a corner lot with lots of angles and very little yard space. The bathrooms were dated and the home looked lovingly ‘worn’ from years of living and raising a kids. The owner was a retired empty-nester, and the proceeds would be an important part of his final assets. We worked together to decide what parts of the home to remodel and where his money was best spent to optimize the return on his investment. We focused our efforts on making the home a beautiful contemporary, emphasizing the tall ceilings, large open spaces and indoor-outdoor flow to the decks. The kitchen was in pretty good shape, but the cabinets were tattered. The bathrooms were all dated. We revitalized the home with a fresh coat of paint on the walls, new carpet, sanding & refinishing the hardwood floors, and adding new light fixtures throughout the home. We removed some old built-ins that cluttered space in the family room, we gutted and remodeled the master bath, re-finished the kitchen cabinets, added open shelving, new pendant lights over the kitchen island, refaced the fireplace in the living room and added a gorgeous statement light fixture in the dining room. The end product was achieved: a stunning contemporary home that made my husband want to buy it!
